Welcome back everyone. We
trust that you had a nice relaxing summer and that you are energized and ready
to dive into your classes. Now, with all that energy and motivation you can make this a successful semester.
Just a work of caution... Don't let you motivation get carried away by attempting to do too much at once.
Important Dates

Friday, August 31 Last day to add a class
Helpful Tools
Start the semester off with
the tools for success. Check out all the excellent Academic Success Programs
offered by The Student Success Center (http://www.studentsuccess.vt.edu/index.html).
Ut Prosim
That I serve. Yes, this is
the Hokie motto – but is this is your motto too?
But what does it mean to you?
Does this mean that once a year you pick up a rake and help clean a lawn for
the elderly? Or does it mean that you stand up and serve in other ways – serve a
need by stopping a bully or fixing an injustice?
Think about it … I may ask
your opinion when you come to see me.
Sandbox
I once heard a student
complain about having nothing to do. After questioning him I realized he wasn’t
looking for stuff to do – he was waiting for events to come to him. Ugh. I
cannot say anything more.
So, you are going to find
things to do that will add balance to your time here. You are not going to bog
yourself down with school work to the point that you don’t allow yourself any
relief or fun time to relax. You will find time for school and play.
I encourage you to check out
the events and offerings from the Student Centers and Actives (http://www.studentcenters.vt.edu/).
This group seems to always have something going on.
Did you know there are other
Hokie Sports than football?!! Who knew? Check out all the other teams and their
schedules here at www.hokiesports.com
