In just a few short days campus will be awake again; alive with
students. Campus is kind of like a sleeping giant when you guys are away!
So, there is a lot happening…. In the weeks to come we will be
introducing a few new features to the blog. Please keep reading & looking
for these helpful tools.
Please see
important info about my office hours below.

Helpful Tools
This is an important time for many of you as you will be
interviewing for jobs or internships soon. I’m sure you have all had conversations
about what to wear, typical questions… if not let me know and I can get you set
up with Career Services for help with this.
What is important to remember is that you are making a LASTING
impression. So turn off your cell phone, do not take all the candy in the candy
dish on the reception desk, do not tell them you hate reading, and please do
not ask to be paid under the table! These are just some of the mistakes people
made just last year (http://www.chicagotribune.com/classified/jobs/chi-job-interview-mistakes-20130111,0,3941506.story?track=rss).
Lastly, speak to the Career Center for advice about how to respond
to an offer of employment. This is important – based on how you respond the employer
may retract their offer. Another
example of what not to do …. A recent graduate was offered a job and he told
the employer that he “had to discuss the offer with his parents before he could
accept.” (If you do this… I will smack
you with your diploma.)
Random
There’s a disease called Exercise-Induced Anaphylaxis which
makes people allergic to exercise.
