Weather Predictions

Can you believe that a month ago we trusted a ground hog to tell us that we were going to have an early spring. Lets take a moment to examine that - we looked to a rodent to tell us the weather. And what is an early spring?

I heard we may have a big winter storm next week. Anyone want to see if my mom's cat will predict the snow fall for next week ... an inch of snow for each mouse she catches the day before the storm.

The best part of Groundhog Day is the movie.

Important Dates
  • Monday, March 4: Last Day To Drop A Class Without Grade Penalty - SEE ME BEFORE YOU DO SOMETHING YOU CANNOT UNDO.
  • Saturday, March 9: Spring Break begins
  • Sunday, March 17: Spring Break ends
  • Monday, March 25: Last day to change grade option from P/F to A-F
  • Tuesday, March 26: Course request for fall 2013 opens

Helpful Tools
Course request will be coming up soon. When we meet to review course options for the fall I will ask you about time for yourself, your time, your balance. There will be sacrificing your sanity to overload in course work. Remember the keys to finding balance are:
  • Build downtime into your schedule
  • Drop activities that sap your time or energy
  • Rethink your errands
  • Get moving
  • Remember that a little relaxation goes a long way
If you ask me to sign your overload form I'm going to ask you why? Be prepared - if i don't like your answer I might not sign your form!

Ut Prosim
"I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing the world. You're doing things you've never done before, and more importantly, you're Doing Something. Don't freeze, don't stop, don't worry that it isn't good enough, or it isn't prefect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life. Whatever it is you're scared of doing, Do it. Make your mistakes, next year and forever."

Hokie Trivia
Pritchard Hall was the largest all male residence on the east coast until it went co-ed fall 2009. When it went co-ed it made national news (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=101062974). A student even made a satire bit from an old WWII movie (http://youtu.be/73r_pNHLlko).
