Silly Phrases

Returning Students: Schedule your end of year meeting with me in Scholar, now please.

Ok, the one phrase I never understood was “were you born in a barn” and how that relates to leaving the door open or leaving chairs untucked (I get the mess reference).  I didn’t work the farm, but my family lived on a farm for several years when I was a child. During that time I explored & got to know farm life every well. The one thing you never do in a barn is leave the door open or un-tuck something.  Cows have no (and I mean NO) sense to them; they will wonder where ever they can & shouldn’t be. The reason my parents have a Christmas tree farm instead of a cow farm … trees don’t wonder!

Anyway, I’ve come to accept this phrase the way people use it. With that in mind I have to ask; were you born in a barn?  No.  Then push in your chairs when you leave a table & clean up after yourself.
Please & Thank you.
It shows respect for your environment, the people you are with and yourself.

Helpful Tools
After these last 8 days of classes are you going to cram for exams?  You and I both know that cramming doesn’t work neither does staying up all night.  Instead of employing those bad techniques try to begin studying as soon as possible, a little at a time.  Staying up all night will deprive your brain of long term memory … something you need for a test.

Look here for 10 traps of studying that can & may have already gotten you into trouble. http://www.collegeatlas.org/traps-of-studying.html.

Ut Prosim
Usually, I share ways for you to sever. But today I want to give a bit of gratitude to those that serve us. One Tuesday, 4 Blackhawks (& obviously their crew members) visited VT to spend time with VTCC.  This is a link to some of the pictures that were taken during their visit.

Thank you for your service.
