There is Good

I have a few reminders and important announcements, but first – call your parents for no reason at all. Just say hi, ask what they are doing, how was their day. Every once in a while we have these reminders that life is precious, life is short, and we should not take anyone for granted.

That’s all & now on to other things….Some of you know that MSE Advising Office is moving. Yes, it is true – we are going to move sometime around December 2014. Until that time, please continue to come and visit us at our office in Collegiate Square.  I will have more information about our move later … it will be great!

VT Fire Open House

Saturday, April 20 from 10am – 1pm, VT-FIRE will hold an open house and metal casting demonstration at the Kroehling Advanced Materials Foundry. Come and enjoy a tour of the foundry, design your own molds, and pour your design in iron. Refreshments will be provided, courtesy of Dominion Metallurgical. Those in attendance must wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. Directions: Turn off Price’s Fork Rd onto Plantation Rd, follow to end, turn RIGHT onto the Huckleberry Trail, a gravel road. Foundry is first building on LEFT.

MEPS

Please take a moment to fill out the quick survey. By you taking the time to fill this out, you are increasing the chances of MEPS earning the #1 MA Chapter in the country as well as bringing in extra income to the society. Thank you for helping yourselves and your fellow MSE students out!

So exactly what does ‘appropriate attire’ mean? What about ‘black tie optional’, or ‘business casual’? All are very good questions. And you should know the answer to each.

A “simple breakdown of different dress codes and what they mean in U.S. culture, from casual to business casual to smart casual to business and informal, semi-formal and formal attire” for him and her can be found here: http://blog.mannixmarketing.com/dress-codes/

Ut Prosim

Pay attention to this confession from a former housing officer! You guys have no idea how many times housing offices joke about putting unruly, difficult, or unsatisfied students in a tent on the Drillfield.  In an overcrowded situation, I once mumbled to myself, 'you want your own room, get a tent and park yourself on the Drillfield. You can have the entire **** field to yourself.' Well, folks here it is; a housing officers dream come true ... students on the Drillfield! Why does Relay for Life only come once a year? http://www.vtnews.vt.edu/articles/2013/04/041113-dsa-relay.html
