Plan E

I had a plan to skip the gym this morning and get to work by 7am so I could catch up on my work. Yes, that is early for you guys – but one day you will get up that early too. Anyway, my point here is I had a plan; I was going to get to work early and get stuff done before anyone came in to see me.

Then I heard that Montgomery County Schools are delayed by two hours. Several expletives ran circles in my brains. Then I immediately started thinking of plans ….
B – I go to work he misses the bus, I leave work take him to school & go back to work.
C – I wait till he gets on the bus and work late
D – Dad stays & I go to work
E – he catches the bus by himself!

I ended up with Plan E.

The point of all this is that we each make grand plans for ourselves. Be it a grand plan for the day, the week, a year or our lives. But what none of us keep in mind when making these plans are the events that we have no control over that shape our world and our grand plan.

I’ve mentioned to several of you that you should draft your 5 year plan in pencil because it is based on you; a living breathing thing and things change.

Seniors
You may have received an email from the registrar about the possibility of not graduating this spring. Please do not panic. Instead, run a DARS. Email me if you took MSE 2114 & MSE 3114 and it is not showing or if a technical electives (green engineering) is not showing. If you are missing an area course (CLE) add it NOW.

I will not have a chance to look at your individual DARS until next week. You must do this NOW.

Important Dates
Today – last day to add a course
March 3 – last day to drop a course

Helpful Tools
Unknown to you – meetings with your adviser are a very helpful tool.  Your adviser can be a not only help you selected courses and understand university policy but be your sounding board, a resource or an advocate.

To make this happen we have required meetings. If you are do for a meeting please schedule it immediately.
  • Sophomores, 5 meetings – beginning of academic year, course request, mid-year, course request & end of academic year.
  • Juniors, 4 meetings – beginning of academic year, both course requests, mid-year OR end of academic year.
