Forever Young If You Get Your Sleep

Two things are on my mind today… first this silly song I’m currently listening to; Forever Young by Alphaville. No, I don’t want to be forever young – that’s just silly. But let’s take a moment and get philosophical… are we talking true age or mindset?

Yes, we all age. I have firsthand knowledge; I couldn’t find a way to stop time and keep my son from entering high school this year! So yes, we all age.

Being young isn’t an age it’s a mindset. I do believe you are forever young if you keep living, learning and challenging yourself. Accept your age, at any age the way you did when you turned 21.  At 43 I have more to offer today than I did when I was 21 and I’m not done yet. So I am young and will forever be young.

Which bring me to my second point – to be this young I need my sleep. MSE Juniors and Seniors have heard me talk about this ad nauseam. But the MSE Sophomores haven’t. So I must tell them and everyone to get their 8 hours. Ok, I will settle for 7 but no less.

The most important reason to get your sleep is to retain what you learn. Studies have proven that what you study goes to long term memory if you get REM sleep. More about why college students need to get their sleep here.
